So, I have been getting a lot of questions about how I am able to pull in 500 to 800 gold per mailbox visit with two visits a day (I know this is a small amount compared to what most pull in on their level 80s, but I only spend thirty minutes twice a day farming the AH for this).  I immediately reply that it is all about your ability to farm the Auction House, use your professions, and use some must have addons.

Must Have Addons

Before reading about each of the addons I feel fall into the Must Have category, note that in order to get these addons you can type the name into www.google.com, and then pick the link that is from Curse.com, and read the instructions and downloading and installing them from there.  Now, on to the addons!

1) Auctioneer Suite

This addon provides an extension to the normal auction house interface along with a load of helpful, time-saving, and money making features.  With it, you can perform an auction house scan which will allow you to hover over items and get current market pricing, what they disenchant into, how much they vendor for, and a lot of other useful data.  You can also perform a ton of different searches.  My three favorite searches are the Vendor Search, the Resale Search, and the Disenchant Search.

Vendor Search

With the Vendor Search, you can set a minimum profit of something like 30 silver, and then click the search button.  Both bids and buyout options will appear showing you items that are listed on the AH where if you purchase them or win them on a bid, and then sell them to a vendor, you will make the amount of profit you selected or above.  After you click the search button and the results come up, I recommend sorting by “Buy”, purchasing all of the available items, and then sorting by “Bid”.  After all the Vendor Search bid results are up, I tend to sort by time remaining, and bid on only ones with 30 minutes and two hours left.  It is that easy.  You would be surprised at how many people list things below the vendor price.

Resale Search

I find this search a great one, but you have to be very careful.  Auctioneer will pull up results that are being auctioned for a set amount lower than what the current average market price on the auction house is.  You can flip a lot of auctions, and make a great amount of gold, but you have to be careful since some other AH farmers will set one item to a ridiculously high price to exaggerate potential profit and cause something to look like buying it up is going to make a huge profit when it isn’t.  I funny, and common example of this is [Ice Cold Milk].  Check your auction house and you will sometimes see this go for a ridiculous amount of gold so that other ones which are priced higher than what vendors sell them for will trick auctioneer into thinking they are a great deal.  Be wary, and this search can make you a lot of profit.

Disenchant Search

If you are an enchanter, then you absolutely need to be using this feature.  This allows you to set the level of enchanting you would prefer so that you can focus on specific groups of items to disenchant and thus specific enchanting material markets.  Each server and realm are different, so experiment and take a look, but after setting a minimum profit, and performing a search, you will get a large list of Buy and Bid results.  After purchasing and bidding on what you want to disenchant, you will next need to get all of the items from your mailbox…

2) Postal

This addon has a ton of great features, but the main feature I use on it is the Open All button.  This will open 50 mail messages at a time, and place the money and items into your inventory.  As you can imagine, this saves a ridiculous amount of time having to click to open a piece of mail, then click again to add the contents to your inventory.  I often have 400 to 800 mail messages waiting for me, so Postal REALLY speeds things up.

One additional thing you should know about Postal is that after you take your fifty mail contents with the Open All button, the Bean Counter (part of Auctioneer Suite that tracks everything you have taken from your mail) is often lagging behind and you will normally have to wait over a minute or two to get your next batch of 50 mail items.  However, you can create a macro to reload your user interface, and this takes about ten seconds instead of a few minutes so you can immediately get back to opening more mail.  Create the macro as follows: Hit Esc, click Macros, and after selecting an icon, type the following in the text field:  /reload ui      Then, you can drag the icon for the new macro you have just created to an action bar, keybind it, and perform this at the press of a key to keep opening more and more mail.

3) Quick Auction 3

This addon allows you to post in bulk without having to post every single item, determine the stacks, price, undercut, etc.  I will go into more detail later on about this, but basically after installing this addon and logging into World of Warcraft, you want to type:  /qa config   This will bring up a configuration screen and you will want to click on Item Groups.  A Group Name field will appear, and you can type any name that will be relevant to what the item group will contain.  For example, I am a scribe, so I made an item group called Glyphs.  After you type the item group name, you can then go back to the Item Groups selection on the left of your screen, and click the + to the right of it to expand and show all of the groups you have setup.  The first thing you should do is click on the Add Items tab, and then click on the items you wish to be in this category.  After you have done so, you can click on the Auction Settings tab for your current item group.  Take the time to hover over each selection to read what they do and control, but I highly recommend you set a Threshold Price, a Fall Back Price, and an Undercut Price.

Threshold Price

Your Threshold price will tell Quick Auction 3 to not undercut the lowest auction up for an item if the current lowest market price is below the lowest price you would be willing to sell your item for.  So, for example, Player A puts a Gold Bar on the AH for 10 silver.  If you are Player B, and you have no Threshold price set in your Quick Auction 3, then it will undercut that ridiculously low posting of 10 silver, and place your [Gold Bar] up on the AH for 9 silver or however low your undercut it set to.  That brings us to setting an Undercut Price.

Undercut Price

This is the price that Quick Auction 3 will undercut the lowest current auction on the market from another player by.  I recommend 1 silver, but I have heard others say they like 1 copper or even 1 gold undercuts.  Try them all out and find out what works best for you.  Last, you need to set a Fallback Price.

Fallback Price

This is extremely helpful for a number of reasons.  One, if there are no other items on the AH of the item you are having Quick Auction 3 put up, then it will put the item up for your Fallback Price as long as you have it checked in your Item Group settings.  You can also set Quick Auction 3 to post an item at your Fallback Price if the lowest auction up other than yours is below your Threshold Price.  So, for example, there is only one [Glyph of Sinister Strike] up on the AH and it is not from me. It is set at a 3 gold buyout.  With my Glyph fallback price set at 49 gold and 99 silver and my threshold price set at 4 gold, Quick Auction 3 will see that the price for the current [Glyph of Sinister Strike] on the AH is below my threshold price, so instead of undercutting it by 1 silver and posting mine up on the AH, it will post my [Glyph of Sinister Strike] at 29 gold and 99 silver.  There are many settings like this to play around with, so once you figure out what works best for you on your realm and server, run with it!

After setting your Quick Auction 3 Item Groups, you can go and post in bulk.  So, for me, if I want to post all of my Glyphs, I just go up to the auctionneer, click on the Auctions tab, and then click the Post button.  Now watch as all of the items you set Item Groups for disappear in bulk and get posted on the AH.  Too good!  Also, keep in mind that you can cancel all of your auctions by talking to the auctioneer and then typing:  /qa cancelall as well as having Quick Auction 3 cancel all auctions you were undercut on by talking to the auctioneer, clicking the Auctions button, and then hitting the cancel button at the top.

My Current and New Personal Goal

I had the original goal of leveling up my gold making ability and obtaining the [Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth], but after talking it over with some guildies, I realized that my guild and I would better benefit from obtaining an item that is useful as opposed to being a vanity item.  So, my new personal goal is to obtain:

[Shadowmourne]

Obtaining the newest Legendary Weapon in World of Warcraft requires patience, dedication, a guild that is willing to assist you, and an extremely large amount of money to even start the Shadowmourne quest, [The Sacred and the Corrupt].  One of the requirements is 25 [Primordial Saronite], and each one goes for 2000 gold.  This means we are looking at roughly 50,000 gold to start this quest line!!!!  I have been progressing along, obtaining gold, and I did not plan on buying any [Primordial Saronite] until the gold in my possession totaled over 20,000g, but today I was hit with some must buy deals that I could not resist.  My gold progression from when I started this website looked like the following:

Goldproject's gold progression

Goldproject's gold progression

Each amount represents a visit to the mailbox, scanning and farming the AH, posting all of my auctions, and then taking a screen shot of what I was left with.

However, with my new personal goal of obtaining Shadowmourne, making a decent amount at my most recent trip to the mailbox, and adding some ridiculously great deals on Primordial Saronite, I am now sitting on the following:

1938 gold and 3 Primordial Saronite

1938 gold and 3 Primordial Saronite

Only 22 more to go so I can obtain [Shadow's Edge] and start the [Shadowmourne] questline!  I also should add that Goldproject is only level 72, so I guess I should also be focusing on leveling and gearing up as well :)

Thanks for reading, and next time I will post up some more specific ways you can make money with [Inscription] and [Enchanting] as well as my experiences making some [Darkmoon Card of the North].

Feel free to leave comments and let me know if these gold making strategies or similar ones have been working for you.

I will leave you with a little inspiration for those of you out there that are also trying to get a Shadowmourne:
